ولد عام 1963 تعلم خطوط الثلث والنسخ والرقعة على يد الأستاذ حسن جلبي ونال منه الإجازة عام 1994م/ فاز في مسابقات الخط الدولية التي نظمتها (إرسيكا) بتركيا/ حاصل على الجائزة الأولى في خط الثلث الجلي عام 1986م/ حاصل على الجائزة الأولى في خط الثلث الجلي عام 1989م/ حاصل على الجائزة الأولى في خط الثلث عام 1993م/ فاز بالجائزة الأولى في مهرجان العالم الإسلامي الأول للخط بطهران عام 1997م/ أعماله الخطية منتشرة في العديد من الأماكن والمجموعات، بالرغم من أنه منفتح على كل جديد، إلا أنه موقن بضرورة الحفاظ على القواعد والأصول التقليدية في الخط، وقام الأستاذ داود بكتاش بتدريس الخط في مؤسسة (ISMEK) تابع لبلدية استانبول الكبرى ومكتبة جامع السليمانية وأيضاً في وقف للفنون التقليدية التركية (الكلاسيكية) من عام 2000 وحتى 2011/ وفي عام 2013 بدأ بتدريس الخط في كلية الفنون الجميلة بجامعة السلطان محمد الفاتح الوقفية بصفة أستاذ مساعد.
اقام معرض شخصي تحت عنوان ” ترانيم الحروف ” 2005 في الكويت / شارك في العديد من المعارض حول العالم .
Davut Bektaş was born in the village Akoluk near Adana in 1963. After finishing his high-school education there, he was accepted to the law-school of Istanbul University and received his law degree in 1992/ While studying at the university, he started Islamic calligraphy lessons with the late Khattat (calligrapher) Yusuf Ergün Erzincani/ Meeting Hattat Hasan Çelebi in 1982, he continued lessons with him in the scripts of Thuluth, Naskh and Rik`a/ He received his diploma (ijaza) from his teacher in 1994/ He also received lessons in the scripts of Taliq and Diwani from the late Prof. Ali Alparslan/ Mr. Bektaş taught calligraphy lessons at various institutes. Currently Mr. Bektaş is producing pieces of Islamic calligraphy, serving as a member of the jury at various calligraphy competitions and teaching as a lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Waqf University in Istanbul/ First prize in Jali Thuluth and honourable mention award in the style of direct imitation at the International Islamic calligraphy competition-IRCICA,1986/ First prize in Jali Thuluth at the International Islamic calligraphy competition- IRCICA, 1989/ First prize in Thuluth at the International Islamic calligraphy competition-IRCICA, 1993/ First prize in the Islamic Festival—Tahran, 1997/ Mr. Bektaş has participated in various exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He held his first personal exhibition, “The Music of Letters,” in Kuwait in 2005. Some of the countries where he participated in exhibitions are; Saudi Arabia, Iran, U.A.E (Dubai and Sharjah), Qatar, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Spain, South Africa, America, Malaysia, Pakistan and Japan.
